LFW’s Top Picks for Fall Activities

The team here at Living Fort Wayne considers ourselves a pretty hip bunch. But we will jump right in on the fall-lovin’, pumpkin-spice-latte-drinkin’, sweater-wearin’ bandwagon when the leaves start to change and there’s a bit of a chill in the air. So here are our top picks for all things fall in Fort Wayne. Is there anything we missed? Let us know in the comments!

Leslie Snare – Director at Large

My vote is for the Amazing Fall Fun corn maze and farm. It is such a great family activity and not too far outside of the city. They have a 12-acre corn maze as well as one of the largest and most unique pumpkin patches in Indiana!

I’m not a big autumn fan, but I do enjoy the River City Rat Race, gourmet giant caramel apples from DeBrand’s Fine Chocolates, and kayaking anywhere with colorful foliage.

Sarah Pine – Social Media Contributor

One of my favorite fall activities is going to Advanced Tree Technology in New Haven! It’s a great place to go with family or friends to pick delicious apples from their rows and rows of beautiful apple trees, pick out some pumpkins and get some apple cider.

Lynn Altevogt – Editorial Chair

I am really looking forward to checking out the Haunted History: The Darker Side of West Central put on by ARCH. I am not usually one for scary tours, but I am a bit of a history buff. Plus, my boyfriend used to live in the one of the featured “haunted” buildings, so I’m very curious to see what secrets may lie within its walls. The tour will take off from the USF Performing Arts Building (formerly the Scottish Rite) and is only $10. Click the link above for more details.

Wendy Englehart – Committee Co-Chair

Watch a football game! And I’m not talking about from your couch. As a proud 05’er, I can hear Northside’s marching band, the national anthem and every touchdown cheer on Friday nights. There’s something very “fall” about school pride and cold bleacher seats. My vote this fall is to grab some coffee, or a giant hot dog, and watch some football the old school way.

Jade Haag – Calendar and Events Chair

I love biking and running at the New Haven Rivergreenway! Fall is the time to get in some exercise and breathe in the crisp, cool air. YLNI’s Winter Farmer’s Market is a nice change of pace from the heavy meals and desserts that come with the fall and wintertime. And last but not least, Fortezza, Old Crown or Firefly are the places to go for a warm cup of coffee or tea.
