LFW Weekend Fun File

I thought there was a lot to do last weekend, but this weekend it looks like I’m going to be even busier! Great shows, Winterval, and fun celebrations are on our weekend to-do list!

Our calendar is full of fantastic events taking place around our city, so be sure to check it out for a more exhaustive list.

1. Celebrate Downtown

Join us for a celebration of the people, places, and partnerships that make Downtown Fort Wayne such a great place to live, work, and play. This will be a night to honor the hard work and dedication that made 2015 a success while turning our focus to the future!

2. C2G Music Hall: The Accidentals

These young musicians have quite the impressive resume so far … and they’re just getting started. I think it’s going to be a great show, but also some pretty great inspiration for young people to follow their dreams.

3. Anomalisa Opening and Discussion

Friday, January 29 at 6:30pm

After the screening, there will be a short discussion led by Matt White, Animation Instructor at University of Saint Francis, and local animator Lyndy Bazile.

4. Together Alone

Friday, January 29 at 8pm
Saturday, January 30 at 7pm AND 9pm

Together Alone is, on the surface, a representation of the decay throughout the city of Detroit. Performed by d.Ance.Kontemporary. Should be great!

5. Winterval

I hate winter, but I LOVE Winterval! There are so many fun things to do! Check out the program!

6. Juice Jar Quarterly Cleanse Event

Join Juice Jar at the Cinema Center for a showing of the award winning documentary Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead. This event is the first in a series of quarterly events that will be hosted by Juice Jar to kick off a 3 or 7-day detox.

7. Creative Cocktails

Arts United and YLNI invite you to join us for cocktails at Wine Down beginning at 5:30 pm followed by the Fort Wayne Philharmonic‘s latest Pops concert: Jake Shimabukuro: Ukulele Wizard.

8. POPS: Jake Shimabukuro: Ukulele Wizard

After your Creative Cocktails experience, head over to Jake Shimabukro! Don’t miss this opportunity to hear this world-renowned musician demonstrate his mastery, as he performs with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic.

9. Chase the Chill Scarf Bombing

What is a Chase the Chill Scarf Bombing? An annual scarf bombing event that distributes scarves in public places so that those in need, regardless of income and without any qualifiers, can help themselves.

10. Two Plays on a Bench 

Friday, January 29 and Saturday, January 30 at 7:30pm

Early in their careers, two of America’s greatest playwrights each started with the idea of putting a pair of men on a park bench. And in both cases theatrical brilliance was created. This is the last weekend to check out the show!
