This rock musical broke all kinds of new ground in theatre. Set in the 1960s, it tackles some tough topics, and the Three Rivers Music Theatre crew is putting on an awesome show (as previewed last week). Don’t miss it!

4. Summer Music Theatre’s Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast Ad

Who doesn’t love this classic? While “Hair” might be a bit mature for your kids, “Beauty and the Beast” is something the whole family can enjoy!

The parade, the chalk walk, the food, the fun! I could have filled this whole list with amazing things associated with Three Rivers. This is what summer is all about!

6. Ventures in Creativity

The Fort Wayne Artists Guild’s “Ventures in Creativity” reception is Saturday at the University of Saint Francis. It’s free, and the art will be amazing. The reception begins at 7 p.m., with the awards beginning at 8 p.m.

Watch the soldiers complete their drills, speak with them and their families, and participate in fun activities throughout the day.

8. Daylily Flower Show

Saturday, July 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Enjoy the daylily display at the Botanical Conservatory! You can also speak with experienced gardeners about growing daylilies in your own yard, and purchase some as well!

9. Raiders! The Greatest Fan Film Ever Made w/ Filmmakers/ Doc Subjects

Sunday, July 10 at 4 p.m.

“After Steven Spielberg’s classic Raiders of the Lost Ark was released 35 years ago, three 11-year-old boys from Mississippi set out on what would become a 7-year-long labor of love and tribute to their favorite film: a faithful, shot-for-shot adaptation of the action adventure film. They finished every scene…except one; the film’s explosive airplane set piece.

Over two decades later, the trio reunited with the original cast members from their childhood in order to complete their masterpiece. Featuring interviews with John Rhys Davies, Eli Roth and more, Raiders! The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made is just that: the story of this long-gestating project’s culmination, chronicling the friends’ dedication to their artistic vision-mixed in with some movie magic-to create a personal, epic love letter to a true modern classic.”

Don’t miss it!

10. “
Dive In” Movies at Jury Pool

Sunday, July 10 at 9 p.m.

It’s not a Drive In, it’s a Dive In! They’re screening Shark Tale first, and Jaws immediately after.

Remember, this isn’t all Fort Wayne has to offer. Check out our events calendar, and get out and have some fun this weekend! We can’t wait to see you around our city!
