Blue Jacket and the Fort Wayne Museum of Art (FWMoA) have collaborated to create this compelling event and the art at the center of it. They commissioned thirteen local artists and paired them with Blue Jacket graduates. The graduates and the artists formed a relationship, and artists learned about the graduates’ life experiences. Through various mediums, the artists have portrayed these stories of trials, failures, successes, and redemption.
These pieces are on exhibit at the FWMoA through March 31. At the Second Chances Art Exhibit and Fundraiser on March 31st from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m., the artwork will be auctioned. Proceeds will benefit Blue Jacket’s Career Academy (a two-week training program that provides job-readiness training to disadvantaged adults seeking a second chance at employment).
In addition to the riveting art exhibit and auction, this event will include entertainment by Soul 35. Calhoun Street Soup, Salads, and Spirits (CS3) will provide heavy appetizers and a cash bar. Tickets are $25 each, or $40 per pair, and can be purchased online here.
