Make Music Day in Fort Wayne

Festival season has hit Fort Wayne! There’s plenty to look forward to: food and drinks, friends and family, (mostly) good weather and of course, live music. The city’s music scene buzzes during the summertime, from Three Rivers Festival to Middle Waves to the Living Fort Wayne Concert Series. Both local bands and national acts grace the stages of the Fort. Now, you have a chance to play. On June 21st, Fort Wayne joins over 750 cities all over the world on Make Music Day, an international celebration of music held every year on the summer solstice. This day-long free event is open to all ages, whether you like to make music or listen to it.

This festival isn’t like anything you’ll see at Lollapalooza or Coachella. Make Music Day Fort Wayne features a variety of free musical activities all day long. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., you can drop by Freimann Square for live performances, food trucks, and hands-on events. Make some music in one of the many participatory activities like ukelele strums, drum circles, hands-on DJing, happy keys for babies and toddlers, the FAME musical craft area for kids, and jam zones. Anyone is welcome to come play some tunes – no matter your music skill level or musical persuasion. From 6 p.m. to midnight, you can catch free concerts all over Downtown Fort Wayne.

Actually, it's pronounced like "Rachel." Don't worry, everyone does it.
