Tickled Pink – Vera Bradley

Friday, October 6, 2017 – 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Join Vera Bradley for an evening of fun and friendship as they raise funds for breast cancer research. Enjoy an exclusive sneak peek of new Vera Bradley colors, styles and trends and get a behind-the-scenes tour of the newly expanded Distribution Center. Have your picture taken in the photo studio, bid on a selection of unique silent auction items. Savor creative culinary selections and fine cocktails featuring the best of Fort Wayne’s caterers and restaurants. Each guest will receive a special Vera Bradley gift. Space is limited; guests must be 21 years and over.

Youtheatre: The Canterville Ghost

Friday, October 6, 2017 – Sunday, October 8, 2017

Come to Canterville Chase, an ancient home haunted by the ghost of a dead nobleman. You’re invited to a tour and a party in this audience immersive theatrical experience with all the creaking floorboards, clanking chains, and ancient prophecies that mix spooky and funny. An engaging alternative to the traditional audience/actor experience! Please be advised – the audience will be doing some standing/walking during this show. Please notify the box office if special accommodations are needed.

Join Science Central as they put the science in science fiction. The third annual Sci-Fi Central Mini-convention celebrates science fiction, fantasy, gaming, comic books and more. Are you an enormous pop culture fan but don’t want to drive to Chicago or Indy to attend one of those big conventions? Well, come join us for the day at Science Central, where we will provide all the elements you might enjoy at one of the large conventions, but in a more inviting, family-friendly environment.

Allen County Trailblazer Nature Hike at Heatherwood Park

Join a naturalist and hike the trails at Heatherwood Park for a Trailblazers guided hike.

Free Outdoor Showing of Beetlejuice

Our Free Outdoor Movie Series wraps up the 2017 season with the help of Ivy Tech Community College! Say it once, to hear how it sounds. Say it twice and you grab his attention. Say it three times and buckle your seatbelt…you’re in for a wild ride! BEETLEJUICE!!! There will be a trivia contest sponsored again by the local ThinkGeek!, Bravas Taco Bus will be out slinging the awesome and the return of Joel and the gang from Licensed Bar Services with their world famous beer tent! The movie is estimated to start about 30 minutes AFTER sundown – about 7:30-7:45. Make sure to bring your own chairs, blankets, and hoodies.

Guided Hikes at Lindenwood Nature Preserve

1st & 3rd Saturdays of September & October 2017

Lindenwood Nature Preserve is a 110-acre dedicated nature preserve featuring 4 hiking trails of varying length (one is wheelchair and stroller accessible), a pond, and an open-air pavilion. Hiking, wildlife viewing, photography, picnicking, and just relaxing are a few of the activities you’ll enjoy at the preserve.

Admission is free. Meet in the Preserve Parking Lot.

Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo Closing Day

This is the last day of 2017 to enjoy the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo.

HOURS April through October
Open 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM; last admission 5:00 PM; exhibits, rides, & buildings close at 5:30 PM; grounds close at 6:00 PM.

Your family will love 40 acres of animals, rides, and beautifully landscaped grounds. Don’t miss the African Journey, featuring lions, hyenas, and monkeys. You can even hand-feed giraffes! Ride the Sky Safari, trek through the Indonesian Rain Forest and say hello to orangutans or sharks. See why the zoo was voted Indiana’s #1 Summer Attraction in 2012!

Broken Pencil Improv Showcase

Wednesday, October 11, 2017 – 7:45 PM

Broken Pencil is doing another hour-long shoort-form improv comedy showcase! Improv is improvised games and sketches created on-the-fly with no notes or scripts. We will do short form in a variety of hilarious formats. Doors open at 7:45, show starts at 8:00. Admission is free, donations to the Wunderkammer Company are encouraged.
