LivingFortWayne.com is a social media hub that allows community members to connect and share the wonderful attributes of Fort Wayne. Our goal is to provide a resource that will help recruit and retain young people in Fort Wayne. Through the many social organizations and available activities, we believe that young professionals will put down roots in Fort Wayne.

In 2009, Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana (YLNI) conducted a survey called 2020 Vision to gain a better understanding of the priorities and concerns of young professionals in Northeast Indiana.  The 2020 Vision Survey generated some great insight and found that finding professional job opportunities was the largest challenge to gaining and retaining young professionals in our community. 

Seeing that this issue was larger than YLNI could handle alone, the group continued their research by hosting an “HR Round Table”.  At the round table, YLNI requested input from human resource departments of large local employers on the challenges they face in recruiting and retaining a professional work force.  One of the many issues raised during discussions was that Fort Wayne does not have a “Digital Front Door”.  Information about Fort Wayne is too fragmented, scattered, and difficult to find.

The YLNI 2020 Vision Committee continued to develop the concept of the “Digital Front Door”. The committee believed that if designed to serve not only the needs of the community but also aid the human resource departments that local corporations would fund the site through sponsorships. 

In 2011, LivingFortWayne, LLC was started by YLNI members and supported by their employers.  Developed and maintained by young professionals from Strahm and King + Knight, LivingFortWayne.com implements software development from King+  Knight and the best features from the research conducted by Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana.
