teds market Grand Opening Weekend

The entire teds market team has been working for months to prepare for tomorrow’s grand opening event. Though the café is already in business, the full store opens to the public this Friday, July 17 from 10am-8pm, to begin a weekend of grand opening activities. By now, you have probably heard the buzz around town about this new grocery store called “teds market.” Through word of mouth over the past months, I learned about this store that promised to provide fresh, natural food. I wanted to know how Brian Hench, founder of teds market, planned to stand out and survive among the growing chains of “fresh” grocery stores already established in Fort Wayne. Hench’s plan for success is intentionally simple. “We wanted to create a different experience for the Fort Wayne community by bringing a simple selection of healthy foods,” explained Hench. Customers should come to expect novelties like buying wine by the glass while shopping, smelling the aroma of daily handmade bread and a fully functioning kitchen that will have a great selection of prepared foods.” Teds market selects the food it sells based on taste and quality. The store is not a pseudo-warehouse with aisles of shelves stocked with 10 different brands selling essentially the same product. Hench and his team offer the best, sustainable foods in a unique, small and welcoming atmosphere. Since teds market is locally owned, it has the freedom to offer new specials and change food choices so customers experience a variety of high quality foods. Teds market is more than a grocery store – if you can even call it that. The staff kindly serves up a full coffee bar, featuring Fort Wayne’s beloved Utopian Coffee. In addition, customers will find a selection of 12 gelato flavors plus a variety of pastries and cookies from the bakery. I highly recommend the pistachio gelato or the turtle brownie. In the lower level of the market, guests will find teds wine bar. Hench and staff are confident you will be satisfied with a highly rated wine or craft beer to pair with any meal. Before you buy, feel free to enjoy a glass of wine with an appetizer at the bar. Teds wine bar is a brilliant pairing with teds market. During tomorrow’s grand opening, guests will tour the regionally sourced food selection at teds market. With favorites like Utopian Coffee in the café, Get Fresh Farms in the produce, and Custom Quality Meats at the counter, customers will get a taste of the region’s best. Teds market is located at the intersection of Union Chapel and Coldwater Road. Doors open at 10:00am. Be sure to...

USF School of Creative Arts Presents: “Picnic”

USF School of Creative Arts Presents: “Picnic”

The University of Saint Francis School of Creative Arts invites you to attend its upcoming performance of “Picnic.” This Pulitzer Prize-winning play, written by William Inge, includes the familiar yet sometimes unsettling elements of youth, love and desire. Featuring a dedicated cast of USF students, “Picnic” will remind you once again of the talented individuals who impact Fort Wayne’s art and culture. “Picnic” is set in 1950s Kansas and illustrates the complexity of small-town relational conflict. Cast members, who happen to be friends and colleagues of mine, are thrilled to share with us their take on this classic production. Over the past few months, I’ve had the privilege of seeing these individuals develop and adopt the personalities of their characters, in settings outside of rehearsals. “Picnic” details the lives of seemingly ordinary Kansas females. However, my sources tell me the show takes a steamy turn when an attractive love interest comes to town. Now might be a good time to mention that this show may not be entirely suitable for young children. Perhaps I am a bit partial, being a student at USF’s School of Creative Arts, but seeing these actors dedicate immeasurable effort and serious time to this production makes me that much more eager to attend. Directed by USF Assistant Professor Aaron Willoughby, “Picnic” will bring you small-town Kansas you hadn’t quite expected. I have additional news that you may appreciate: you have the chance to attend this show for free. Living Fort Wayne is giving away tickets to “Picnic.” Follow Living Fort Wayne on Twitter (@LivingFortWayne) and Facebook to see how easy it is to enter. Important: tickets are already on sale – so don’t wait too long to secure yours! Fort Wayne and Alton Brown are both enthusiastic about the show and all it will include. “We have combined science, music, food (and a few other things that no one in his right mind would allow me to do on TV), into a two-hour extravaganza that’s fun for the whole family,” says Brown. From his award-winning, 13-year “Good Eats” television series and hosting other shows including “Iron Chef America” and “Cutthroat Kitchen,” Brown has a blend of experience with both food and entertainment. Alton Brown invites you to attend his unique extravaganza. Gather the family,  consider bringing your ponchos, and prepare to take part in some pretty tasty science experiments! (Parents: don’t tell the kids, but some learning may even take place.) There’s a buzz of excitement about this event and Fort Wayne is happy to welcome such an intriguing guest. Pursuit Fort Wayne Launches First Citywide Event

Mark December 4th in your calendars, friends! To be specific, go ahead and pencil in “Pursuit Fort Wayne” from 7-9pm that evening. For young adults in the Fort Wayne area hoping to connect with fellow believers, I’ve got wonderful news. A new group called Pursuit Fort Wayne fancies your attendance at its first ever worship event. Brock Orlowski, his wife Abby, and a group of devoted friends planned, prayed, and then planned some more in the months leading up to this point. Their mission is simply to foster a community of young adults pursuing Christ together in Fort Wayne. Pursuit FW is not affiliated with any individual church. Instead, it intends to be a citywide, inter-denominational collective. For the Pursuit FW launch event, young adults in the area are encouraged to join in a night of worship, fellowship and prayer. The Mike Lee Band will lead with their original take on modern worship music. Orlowski and company plan to connect with attendees and cast a vision for the revival of our city. Pursuit Fort Wayne welcomes your presence and participation at its kick-off event. Who: Young adults in Fort Wayne Where: The Summit – Grace Gathering (3157 Minnich Rd, New Haven) When: Thursday, December 4. 7:00pm-9:00pm For more information: Twitter: @Pursuit_FW...
