A Valentine’s Gift Your Guy Will Love – And Really Use!

Guys tend to get overlooked when it comes to Valentine’s Day gifts. Somehow the holiday became about spoiling the lady in your life with chocolate, jewelry, and flowers. So we ask you, why not get the special guy in your life a gift on this loving day? This year, let’s spoil those guys! We could go the traditional route and pick up something we find at the store like a stuffed animal or some boxers with lips on them…or we could get creative. Monthly subscription boxes are kind of big right now. They started with boxes stuffed with makeup samples for women but the men’s subscription boxes have become very popular lately. Boxes for the gents have included themes such as monthly shaving clubs, outfit in a box, and men’s grooming gift boxes. Say what? Men want “grooming” products? Color us surprised, but yes they do! (They just don’t want to admit it.) Here’s how to duplicate one of those men’s grooming gift boxes and give your guy something he really wants for Valentine’s Day – but would never ask for. You can go two routes: a basket that your guy might keep to store the items in, or a gift box. These can be purchased at your favorite retail or hobby store. To keep it unique, try to include one homemade item. We decided to make our own beard oil since beards have become so popular and beard oil is the new thing. To make this, you’ll need a base oil – aka carrier oil – that will be the bulk of your oil. You can use any kind: argan, sunflower, jojoba, olive, etc… We used organic olive oil because it already has a musky type scent so it’s perfect. Then, add a few drops of a fragrant oil of your choice. Clove is a great scent for a guy, so we picked up a bottle of clove bud oil from Earth Fare. Right under the oils are cute little empty bottles that are perfect for the homemade oil and very affordable. Add drops of the essential oil until the scent is perfect. Your guy will apply this to his facial hair and thank you since many bearded guys struggle with dry, itchy skin under that hair. If your man is beardless, they can use the oil on their faces at night or perhaps you could give him a back massage with it. Wink wink. Another great thing to pick up is a shaving gift set. Even if he has a beard, he most likely still shaves some portion of his face and if not, these kits include pretty great products...

Gift This: Homemade Spa-in-a-Gift Basket

Have you started your holiday shopping yet? If you’ve already ventured out, you have likely noticed the same old song and dance of Christmas gifts. There’s the meat and cheese gift box, the hat/scarf/glove set, and the dreaded kitchen accessories. If you’d like to give that special someone a unique and thoughtful gift that will be appreciated and used, we’ve got you covered! Gift baskets are always a huge hit, there’s no denying that, but a basket that has been hand-picked and filled with items we can actually use? Yes please! Here’s how to create an amazing gift basket made personal for someone you love. Every successful gift basket needs a theme, and for Christmas you want to be on point. We love the idea of a Spa-in-a-Basket concept because, well who doesn’t love spa products? This is sure to please a special lady in your life. Guys, you may earn some bonus points with this one. The best part, it’s super simple to pull together. For starters, you’ll need a basket. Currently, there are countless holiday baskets lining store shelves. Take your pick, but make sure it’s big enough to hold all of the amazing spa items that will rest in it. To cushion the bottom, either fill it with some tissue paper or shredded decorative paper. Now for some luxurious ingredients: We love the idea of something homemade. Since many of us are suffering from winter skin, a freshly made hydrating facial scrub is perfect. You’ll need a container for the scrub like the small jelly jars we found at Target. Fill the jar with this homemade scrub: Juice from 1 lemon, 1 Tablespoon honey, and 2 Tablespoons of sugar. We bought our organic ingredients from Earth Fare. Tie pretty Christmas ribbon around the jar. Grab a decorative recipe card to include the scrub recipe and these instructions: apply a layer of olive oil to the skin then press the scrub into the oil. Gently massage, leave on for 5-10 minutes, then rinse. Safe for the face and body! Follow with a beauty oil and let the magic happen as you sleep. We included a bottle of Aveda’s Beautifying Oil along with a gift card to In Touch SalonSpa to tie in our spa idea with the scrub. Another great item to include in your spa gift basket is a sampler of high quality skin care products such as the Dr. Hauschka Revitalizing Face Care Kit we found at Earth Fare. No spa basket is complete without tea! A great option for this theme is Yogi Skin DeTox tea, also found at Earth Fare. Another great item to include is...
