Science Central back to School Year Hours

Science Central returns to School Year Hours Science Central’s hours have changed! After a wonderful summer we are returning to School Year Hours. From now through next summer, our regular operating hours (excluding certain holidays) are: • Monday & Tuesday: CLOSED • Wednesday – Friday: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. • Saturday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. • Sunday: 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. Please note that Science Central will be closed for two weeks in September for our annual Fall Shutdown. This is the time of year where we close to the public to make repairs and install exhibits, and perform routine maintenance on our building. We will be closed to the public during the week and open on the weekends during the Shutdown: • Sept. 3 – 7: CLOSED • Sept. 8: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. • Sept. 9: 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. • Sept. 10 – 14: CLOSED • Sept. 15: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. • Sept. 16: 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. For more information about Science Central’s hours or admission prices, please visit our...

Sci-Fi Central returns with new experiences this October

Experience something new at Sci-Fi Central on Oct. 6! We are adding some new things to our annual science fiction and pop culture mini-convention this year, like a cosplay contest, new vendors and more! Join the cosplay contest to show off your costuming and makeup skills! The first place finisher in the contest will win a gift package of fun prizes, with second and third place finishers getting special recognition at the event. All cosplays must be family-friendly and follow all the rules & regulations. The deadline to pre-register is Sept. 30, and participants may register the day of the event if space is available. Bravas, Kona Ice, Ivy Tech’s Grasshopper, and Whip & Chill food trucks will be open in the Science Central parking lot for the event. There will also be other local merchandise vendors throughout the building with comics, collectibles, and more for sale! Do you and a group have a special presentation on a science fiction or pop culture topic? We want to invite you to be one of our panel discussions this year! Space is limited, but registrations are still open. Science Central and Hop River team up for FrankenBrew

Science Central and Hop River Brewing Company have teamed up to bring you FrankenBrew, a two-part adult event! Join us for part one, The Lab, at Hop River Brewing on Sept. 10 for a behind-the-scenes look at the science of brewing. Then, help decide what goes into the new FrankenBrew! Now through Aug. 27, advance tickets for The Lab are $25. Prices will increase to $30 on Aug. 28 and be available until the day of the event or until sold out. Science Central will host part two, The Reveal, on Oct. 13. Participants in The Reveal will get to taste the FrankenBrew creation, as well as enjoy Frankenstein themed activities, FrankenTacos, and a special historical tour of Science Central. Science Central is excited to offer the next Special Abilities Day on Saturday, Aug. 18! Through the generous support of the AWS Foundation, this program is free to members of the community with special abilities.with pre-registration. Science Central will be open to the general public on Aug. 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Special STEAM activities at this AWS Special Abilities Day will relate to Solar Science, and are made possible by the support of the Indiana Arts Commission, Arts United, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. Books Come Alive: ACPL Personifies Diversity With The Human Library

  The old adage “a book comes to life” will certainly ring true on August the 4th at the Allen County Public Library. Members of the community will have a chance to meet human “books” on display, as they each share their unique journeys. The event will bring together a diverse and collective group of people from different walks of life to inspire in-depth dialogue and conversation in a welcoming, intentional and inspiring atmosphere. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday August 4th, The Human Library will host more than 30 human books from our local community available to “loan out” for conversations and inquiries.
