Today we are spotlighting Living Fort Wayne’s Contributing Writer, Rob Hines! What is your role with Living Fort Wayne and why did you decide to volunteer for our blog? I am a feature writer for Living Fort Wayne and I reached out to LFW after learning about the blog because I have lived here for…several years and I think this city has so much to offer that most people here don’t realize. I hope I can help increase awareness of our awesomeness. Tell us one thing about your life outside of Living Fort Wayne? In my spare time (which, as the father of a seven-year-old, may be a myth), I enjoy writing comic book scripts. However, my gross lack of artistic skill prevents these scripts from becoming actual things. If there’s an artist out there interested in drawing my books in exchange for Hot Wheels cars, let me know. We have plenty. If you could live any other place in the world, besides Fort Wayne, where would you live and why? Our dream is to buy a home on Mackinac Island overlooking the water. If you had a friend coming in from out of town, what is the one can’t miss thing you would show them or do with them in Fort Wayne? The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo after a few Coney Island hot dogs, of course. If you were going to karaoke tonight, what song would you sing? Today we are spotlighting Living Fort Wayne’s Contributing Writer, Cassey Suthers! What is your role with Living Fort Wayne and why did you decide to volunteer for our blog? I’m a writer with Living Fort Wayne. I joined because writing is my passion and I am a big advocate for all things Fort Wayne. I really wanted to share my enthusiasm about the “happenings” in and around town, so you’ll imagine my surprise when I was able to combine that with my love of writing! Tell us one thing about your life outside of Living Fort Wayne I am married with two very strong-willed, independent little girls who I hope will grow to love and appreciate Fort Wayne as much as I do. If you could live any other place in the world, besides Fort Wayne, where would you live and why? If money was no object, I would love to live on a beach in city in Mexico called Manzanillo. I have family there and in other parts of Mexico, but the beach in Manzanillo was the first ocean I ever visited. I haven’t been back since I was fresh out of high school, but I always remember how much I loved being in that city and on that beach. If you had a friend coming in from out of town, what is the one can’t miss thing you would show them or do with them in Fort Wayne? There are so many things to choose! My absolute favorite thing is the Johnny Appleseed Festival, I would definitely share that with an out of town friend. If you were going to karaoke tonight, what song would you sing? Today we are spotlighting Living Fort Wayne’s Vice Chair of Community Engagement, Alex Modarressi! What is your role with Living Fort Wayne and why did you decide to volunteer for our blog? My role at Living Fort Wayne is Vice Chair of Community Engagement. I believe Fort Wayne has many great local businesses and there are some wonderful people who live here. I wanted to attribute to an organization with values that were for the betterment of communities in and around Fort Wayne. Tell us one thing about your life outside of Living Fort Wayne I am looking forward to taking an Entrepreneurial leap soon. I find myself inspired by the people here who are willing to help others succeed and the programs that foster entrepreneurship within this region of Indiana and beyond. If you could live any other place in the world, besides Fort Wayne, where would you live and why? I would consider living in New Mexico or Southern California even though I have never visited either. People say they love the weather, that people are more social and not as socially inhibited.. If you had a friend coming in from out of town, what is the one can’t miss thing you would show them or do with them in Fort Wayne? There are so many fun things going on in Fort Wayne that t makes this is difficult question. If I had to choose one thing I would suggest we attempt to ride all 25 miles of the Rivergreenway or bike around town! If you were going to karaoke tonight, what song would you sing? Today we are spotlighting Living Fort Wayne’s Technology and Analytics Manager, Cole Trammell! What is your role with Living Fort Wayne and why did you decide to volunteer for our blog? Technology and analytics Manager. I choose to work for Living Fort Wayne because I wanted something fun to do with my free time! Tell us one thing about your life outside of Living Fort Wayne I’m a huge hockey nut and I’m currently a senior at Snider High School If you could live any other place in the world, besides Fort Wayne, where would you live and why? I would probably have to say one of Fort Wayne’s Sister Cities, Taizhou, China! If you haven’t seen or heard of it, I encourage you to look it up! Within the states, I would move to New York because there are so may business opportunities. If you had a friend coming in from out of town, what is the one can’t miss thing you would show them or do with them in Fort Wayne? Take them to the Embassy to see Fort Wayne Philharmonic or a Komets Game! If you were going to karaoke tonight, what song would you sing? Yikes, good question! Or maybe you’re curious about the different things our team does every day that make Living Fort Wayne the go-to destination for all the great things happening in our city. In this new spotlight series, we’ll be featuring a few of our amazing volunteers who will share a bit about their contributions to Living Fort Wayne and what they do outside of their volunteer work with us. Today we are spotlighting Living Fort Wayne’s Chair, Victoria Sarjeant! What is your role with Living Fort Wayne and why did you decide to volunteer for our blog? My role with Living Fort Wayne is Chair. I decided to volunteer because I was already a blogger and I thought it would easily fit into my current personal activities. I also wanted to get involved with YLNI for a while and this seemed like the perfect area to get my start. I started as a writer in July of 2017 and became Vice Chair in November of 2017. I became Chair in early June 2018. Tell us one thing about your life outside of Living Fort Wayne I love to stay busy volunteering, blogging, or making crafts. I am active with the Emerging Leaders Alliance and Big Brothers Big Sisters. If I am not working with any of those things, I am probably watching Netflix with my cats, Jacob and Amber. If you could live any other place in the world, besides Fort Wayne, where would you live and why? If it was a different country, I would have to say Norway. That fits since most of my heritage is in the Scandinavian countries. If I went to any other city in the US, it would have to be Boston or Seattle. I am obsessed with Revolutionary War era history and Boston is full of it. I love Seattle because I love the scenery around the city and the atmosphere. I also love Maine! If you had a friend coming in from out of town, what is the one can’t miss thing you would show them or do with them in Fort Wayne? I would most likely take a visitor out to eat at a local restaurant or bar. Normally I take people to Wine Down, Hoppy Gnome, or JK O’Donnell’s. People don’t come somewhere and expect to go to a chain. I think those are all great examples of the unique places we have to offer. I also have friends that come just to go to DeBrand Fine Chocolate. Growing up in central Indiana, we didn’t really have a place like that...

Today we are spotlighting one of Living Fort Wayne’s Contributing Writers, Alexandra Sauer! What is your role with Living Fort Wayne and why did you decide to volunteer for our blog? I grew up in Fort Wayne, but left the city after high school to explore the world. Thirteen years later, I’m back and am always looking for ways to become more involved in the community while learning about my new (again) city. Being a writer for LFW has been a huge help in getting to know Fort Wayne and meeting new people. Tell us one thing about your life outside of Living Fort Wayne I work as the Community Relations & Events Manager for our local non-profit organization, the Positive Resource Connection. If you could live any other place in the world, besides Fort Wayne, where would you live and why? I love Fort Wayne, but wouldn’t mind avoiding the harsh winters in a more temperate location near a beach. If you had a friend coming in from out of town, what is the one can’t miss thing you would show them or do with them in Fort Wayne? One thing? That’s a tough one! I think I would have my friend visit in the summer so we can take a long bike ride along the River Greenway stopping at The Deck for a drink, a picnic at Headwaters, and ending at a TinCaps baseball game. That’s one thing, right?
