LFW Weekly Fun File – New Year’s Edition

– (And mostly celebrate the fact that 2016 is OVER.) This isn’t everything that’s happening in Fort Wayne this weekend, but it’s a great sampling of NYE fun for all ages! This is by no means an exhaustive list, and if you don’t quite see what you’re looking for, check out our events calendar. Click on the event for more information about times, locations, cost, etc. 1. Let’s Laugh Off 2016 in The Comedy Garage Thursday, December 29 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. 2016 has been a bit rough. Laugh away the year with Let’s Comedy! There’s no cover for this last show, go enjoy yourself at Pedal City! 2. Science Central’s Countdown to Noon Saturday, December 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For the price of admission, take your kiddos to a fun, interactive New Year’s Eve party! They can make party hats, noisemakers, or get their faces painted. There will be a soda toast around noon, complete with a countdown. 3. Kids & Family NYE Party!! Saturday, December 31 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. If you need a family-friendly evening event, stop by teds! There will be games and snacks, kid-friendly beverages (and adult beverages, too) and a “midnight” ball drop (aka 8:30 p.m. ball drop). 4. Fort Wayne’s New Year’s Ball Drop (FREE EVENT) Saturday, December 31 from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. It’s finally here! Music. Fireworks. LED tower. Countdown to 2017. It’s free and open to all ages. Don’t miss it! 5. 2017 NYE Ball at Main St Saturday, December 31 from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. This is a 21+ event, and the official indoor partnership with the New Year’s Eve Ball Drop. Enjoy hors d’oeuvres and a champagne toast with the price of admission. There will be dancing and a photographer to catch you looking snazzy. 6. Space Out NYE Party! Saturday, December 31 from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. This is Wunderkammer’s annual NYE party/fundraiser. If you want to have a great time for a fabulous cause, stop by Wunderkammer for the evening. 7. NYE 90’s Night with live music Saturday, December 31 from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. ’90’s night! It’s the best way to ring in the new year. 8. Secret Mezzanine New Year’s Eve Saturday, December 31 from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Secret Mezzanine will be at Deer Park, If you’re looking for a little more low-key, still awesome bar experience, enjoy some food and music at Deer Park. 9. New...

The house will be decked in beautiful victorian decorations and light refreshments will be provided. 2. Fort Wayne Ballet: The Nutcracker Friday, December 2 through Sunday, December 11, Time varies This beautiful holiday tradition is finally here! 3. The Polar Express Pajama Party Friday, December 2 at 7 p.m. The annual Polar Express Storytime! Activities, coloring, and letters to Santa. 4. Midnight Sale Friday, December 2 from 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Hyde Brothers at night! There will be sales! If you wear something festive, you get a free book, so fun! 5. Santa Train Times and days vary, check their website for details. This train ride with Santa is so fun. The first round of tickets is sold out, but they are adding dates/times and more tickets will go on sale shortly! Your kids will have a blast, especially if they like trains. 6. Christmas on the Farm Saturday, December 3 at 1 p.m. Horse drawn wagon rides, Father Christmas, holiday vendors selling 100% homemade items, and more!   7. Mad Ants Vs. Windy City Bulls December 3 at 7 p.m. Check out the Mad Ants this weekend! For more information about the team, have a look at our latest article. 8. Bravas Presents: WTF Sundaze Saunday, December 4 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. If it’s not breakfast, lunch, or brunch, then what is it? The only way to find out what’s on the menu is by attending! 9. Holiday Open House and Sensitive Santa Visit December 4 at 2 p.m. This is awesome. If you have a child with sensory issues, this is an opportunity to take them to see Santa and get their picture taken. The show is great and the season is right. 6. Fort Wayne Bombshells Burlesque: Phobias Laid Bare Friday, October 7 – Doors at 8:30 p.m. Show at 9 p.m. Are you afraid of the dark? Do dolls creep you out? Or maybe needles make you squirm. Face your fears with the extra dash of excitement that is burlesque. Plus, you could win a cool prize in the costume contest! 7. CE Anniversary Coloring Contest Saturday, October 8 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Celebrate the City Exchange Shop’s one year anniversary! There’s a coloring contest for both kids and adults, complete with some great prizes. Take a Saturday morning and let the kids explore this great big, beautiful world! 3. PBS39 Explorer Day Saturday, June 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free admission, super fun activities, educational games, and a mascot parade! Some food trucks will be stopping by for an overall great time. 4. Beatlefest Saturday, June 4 at 6 p.m. Free show for all ages, featuring multiple bands. 5. Fourth Annual Beard and Mustache Competition Saturday, June 4 at 8 p.m. You guys. Facial hair competition. There will be trophies. There will also be vendors and local bands. All for a great cause! 6. Germanfest June 5 – 12 Beer and Brats and music and fun. 7. Speakeasy Monday, June 6 at 8:30 p.m.   The first night of a poetry reading series. Enjoy some beer and art and feel some feels. 8. Crosswalk Mural Installation Monday and Tuesday June 6 and June 7 beginning at 9 a.m.       It’s installation time! 9. Get Fit in the Fort Running Group June 6 and 7 RRCA Certified Running Coach and Certified Personal Trainer, Mike Else, will be offering a training group to help people prepare for the Fort4Fitness on October 1, 2016. Join a group and get the motivation you need to hit your goals this fall! Groups kickoff this week. 10. New Haven Canal Days June 7 – 11           Oh, New Haven Canal Days.
