Pop-Up Art Events in May Sponsored by ARCH

Architecture and Community Heritage (ARCH) Fort Wayne will be hosting pop-up art events every Friday evening in May in their historic Canton Laundry Buildings on Broadway. The events coincide with National Preservation Month, which gives communities and organizations a month-long opportunity to showcase their communities’ efforts to save historic places year round. The Canton Laundry Buildings were acquired by ARCH in 2011 are 19th century and Italianate style. ARCH purchased the buildings to save them from demolition and they are currently on the market for purchase after ARCH stabilized them. The buildings are located at 1014-1016 Broadway in Fort Wayne. If you are interested in checking out these historic places, there will be five evening pop-ups each Friday in May from 4-7 pm. The first Friday event will be May 2nd and will be the location for ARCH’s annual ‘ARCHies’ award ceremony that recognizes local individuals and organizations that promote historic preservation in Fort Wayne and greater Allen County. In addition, there will be a photography exhibit from the Indiana Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology (DHPA) and the release of ARCH’s 2014 Endangered List. Wunderkammer Company will also sponsor displays of local artwork at each event. Cash bar and food for sale will be available at each event. Mark your calendars for the first event on May 2nd.
