It’s Holiday Season! Looking for fun things to do in Fort Wayne? Look no further! LFW compiles a list of fun ongoings and events that we’re excited about every week! This is by no means an exhaustive list, and if you don’t quite see what you’re looking for, check out our events calendar. Click on the event for more information about times, locations, cost, etc. 1. Festival of Trains Friday, November 25 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday, November 26 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday, November 27 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. Climb aboard! The festival of trains is back. If you or your kiddos are model train enthusiasts, stop by Science Central this weekend! 2. Black Friday Special Adoption Event! Friday, November 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Discounted adoption fees! Give a special someone a forever home for the holiday season. If you plan to adopt bring any children under the age of 5, any dog(s) you currently have at home along with proof of rabies & distemper vaccination(s) and proof of cat rabies/distemper (do not bring your cat, he probably wouldn’t appreciate it). To save time, fill out an adoption profile before you go! 3. Small Business Saturday Saturday, November 26, all day Shop small this weekend! Fort Wayne has TONS of wonderful, awesome, fantabulous small businesses that you can support. Make an effort to shop small and shop local for your Christmas list this year! 4. Christmas In The Park Saturday and Sunday, November 26 and 27 Free fun! There will be crafts and carriage rides, a walk through Bethlehem and more! 5. Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Saturday, November 26 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Santa will be there from 5 to 6! There will also be raffles to local businesses. Bring a canned good for local charity as well! 6. Holly Trolley 2016 Saturday, November 26 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. What better way to do Small Business Saturday than on the Holly Trolly? Three different trolly routes have 50 different shops for 100 different shopping opportunities! Get out, support your neighbors and discover some new, cool businesses! 7. Holiday Handprint Event Sunday, November 27 from 4:30 to 6:30 $10 will get your custom painting, and you can add it to an unlimited number of plates and platters (plates and platters are purchased separately that day). Click on the event for more information about times, locations, cost, etc. 1. Dirt in Our Hands Opening Reception Thursday, July 14 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This exhibit sounds really cool. It “explores the spiritual connections between humans and the natural world.” 2. Your Life Matters Thursday, July 14 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Respect360 in collaboration with RemedyLive are hosting an empowerment session to bring awareness about Indiana’s epidemic of teen suicide attempts. This is an important thing to talk about, and if you have, work with, or care about any teenagers, be sure to attend this free event! 3. Nerdlesque: A Tribute to Cult Classics Friday, July 15 at 9 p.m. (21+ event)   From Grindhouse to Elvira, the Fort Wayne Bombshells pay tribute to favorite cult classic movies in this burlesque show. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. Make sure you get there early enough to grab a seat and a drink before the show! 4. Three Rivers Festival Time Varies Yep, it’s on here again. There’s still a TON to do this weekend, including the finale fireworks! 5. Ted’s Market Local Fest Friday, July 15 through Sunday, July 17 Celebrate all things local! Support your local vendors! 6. Daniel Tiger’s Reading Adventure Saturday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. We love Daniel Tiger at our house. He’ll be there Saturday! They’ll be reading Daniel Tiger books, and prizes, popcorn, and snow cones will be available for the kiddos! 7. Jazzworks Saturday, July 16, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Local jazz artists will be playing at the Botanical Conservatory prior to the fireworks on Saturday. Enjoy the music, the beautiful atmosphere, and a great view of the fireworks show! 8. Pedal for Pet Promises Saturday, July 16 at 7 p.m. There’s a fundraiser for the ASPCA this Saturday! Listen to some great music, enjoy some good drinks, and support a wonderful cause! 9. Pokemon GO Bar Crawl Saturday, July 16 at 2 p.m. C’mon. It had to happen! It’s summer (basically)! Festivals are kicking into gear, as well as quite a bit of outdoor fun around the Fort! Let’s take a look at what’s happening in Fort Wayne this week. Click on the event for more information about times, locations, cost, etc. 1.  K9 Classic Saturday, June 4 at 9 a.m.         The best kind of 5K … the kind you can do with your dog! Benefitting the ASPCA. 2. Pre-K Nature Discovery Saturday, June 4 at 10 a.m. Free, fun classes at Moser park for kiddos under 6. Take a Saturday morning and let the kids explore this great big, beautiful world! 3. PBS39 Explorer Day Saturday, June 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free admission, super fun activities, educational games, and a mascot parade! Some food trucks will be stopping by for an overall great time. 4. Beatlefest Saturday, June 4 at 6 p.m. Free show for all ages, featuring multiple bands. 5. Fourth Annual Beard and Mustache Competition Saturday, June 4 at 8 p.m. You guys. Facial hair competition. There will be trophies. There will also be vendors and local bands. All for a great cause! 6. Germanfest June 5 – 12 Beer and Brats and music and fun. 7. Speakeasy Monday, June 6 at 8:30 p.m.   The first night of a poetry reading series. Enjoy some beer and art and feel some feels. 8. Crosswalk Mural Installation Monday and Tuesday June 6 and June 7 beginning at 9 a.m.       It’s installation time! 9. Get Fit in the Fort Running Group June 6 and 7 RRCA Certified Running Coach and Certified Personal Trainer, Mike Else, will be offering a training group to help people prepare for the Fort4Fitness on October 1, 2016. Join a group and get the motivation you need to hit your goals this fall! Groups kickoff this week. 10. New Haven Canal Days June 7 – 11           Oh, New Haven Canal Days.
