Lions, Tigers and Bears, Oh My! Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo to Open Soon!

Named one of the top 10 zoos in the nation, the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo is a must see! More than 500,00 people visit the zoo each year, there is just so much to do and see! Plan your trip ahead of time or just walk around and enjoy. The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo ‘connects kids to animals, brings families together and inspires people to care’. The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo started as a nature preserve in 1952, grew to a full-fledged zoo in 1963 and continues to grow! In October 2013, potential for new building construction was published through a notice in the Fort Wayne newspapers. Announced on April 22, the zoo will begin two new projects in the Australian Adventure and another in the African Journey area. They will be remodeling the concession stand and adding a new restroom in the Australian Adventure area and building two new pavilions in the African Journey area. The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo is home to many types of animals from around the world. The zoo has lions and leopards from Africa, Blacktip reef sharks and kangaroos from Australia, a Komodo dragon from Indonesia and much more. While enjoying all the varieties of animals, the zoo also offers free fun and exciting (affordable) rides! Don’t forget to visit the zoo’s gift shop on your way out. The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo is open daily from 9 am – 5 pm and comes at a very low-cost. Admission ranges anywhere from free to $14 per visit, or just purchase a membership and visit the zoo multiple times. VIP experiences are also available at the zoo.
