It’s Labor Day Weekend! Looking for fun things to do in Fort Wayne (besides heading off to the lake or having a picnic)? Look no further! LFW compiles a list of ongoings and events that we’re excited about every week! This is by no means an exhaustive list, and if you don’t quite see what you’re looking for, check out our events calendar. Click on the event for more information about times, locations, cost, etc. 1. Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival Wednesday, August 31 through Monday, September 5   Do you love cars? There are events for the entire family! 2. Big Kid Coloring Contest Thursday, September 1 at 6 p.m. Drink beer and color at Trubble. First place gets a $20 gift card. 3. LET’S Comedy Presents: Swipeout Friday, September 2 at 9 p.m. What’s this all about, you say? “We ask a couple of our friends to get on Tinder and invite three of their matches on a date, once those dates arrive we throw them on stage for a dating game. Your host Corey Courrielche will be the man surprising these dates, so come watch him as he tries to avoid getting punched.” … Don’t miss it. 4. 2016 Botanical Roots Concert Series: Zion Lion (Reggae) Friday, September 2 from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. It’s the last Botanical Roots concert! Come enjoy local bands and great food in a beautiful setting. 5. Food n’ Film – Morris From America Premiere Friday, September 2 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Vietnummy is serving food from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., “Morris from America” is screening at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., and there’s an open mic from from freestyle … yea, freestyle. 6. Artisan Fair Saturday, September 3 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.   Harness your inner Ron Swanson and attend some woodworking training and demonstrations, grab some grub from Affine and some dessert from Kona Ice, and have a good time! 7. Oktoberfest Tapping Party! Sunday, September 4 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. There’s appetizers and a German Polka Band. I mean, come on … 8. An Evening of Music & Laughter for the Soul II Sunday, September 4 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Comedian Ralphie Roberts and smooth Jazz from Soul35. Tickets get you some food and wine. Stop by for a good time! 2. Fort Wayne Fringe Festival Thursday, August 4 through Sunday, August 7 Fort Wayne celebrates cutting edge artists! There’s a full schedule on the event page, check it out! 3. Bark N Brew  Thursday, August 4 at 6:30 p.m. Perfect Paws Pet Rescue will be at Trubble to answer questions about their adoption program. If you love dogs and love brew, stop by! 4. JA Wine and Beer Festival Friday, August 5 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Different wineries and breweries will be coming together for a tasting at Parkview Field to benefit Junior Achievement. There will also be a silent auction! 5. Summer Party Friday, August 5 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Food, friends and music at Fort Wayne Museum of Art! Music by Metavari with appetizers and cash bar by CS3. 6. Food N Film Friday, August 5 at 5 p.m. Vietnummy and Bravas food trucks will be at Cinema Center for another screening of “Hunt for the Wilderpeople.” 7. Smith Field Vintage Airplane Rides Saturday, August 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority partnered with Nostalgic Flights and Waldo Wright’s Flying Service so that you can take a flight in a 1929, 4-place-open-cockpit biplane or a 1943 warbird. Don’t miss this great (and unique) opportunity! 8. Brew Haven Saturday, August 6 at 2 p.m. It’s a craft beer festival on Main Street in New Haven. That’s the only explanation it needs, really. 9. Jim Gaffigan “Fully Dressed” Tour Tuesday, August 9 at 8 p.m. Jim Gaffigan is coming to Fort Wayne! Tickets are still available; get yours while you can. It will be a fun time! 10. August Walkable Wednesday: Back to School Wednesday, August 10 at 5 p.m. Walk or bike the North Anthony Corridor where local businesses are offering store specials and discounts.
