We’re back at it, folks. The new year is in full swing. Did you make a resolution to shop local? To be more involved in the fabulous things happening in our city? This is by no means an exhaustive list, and if you don’t quite see what you’re looking for, check out our events calendar. An Art Showcase, Live Music, & Tacos Bravas! Thursday, January 12 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Art. Music. Food. All our favorite things. 2. Botanical Conservatory – Mary Poppins Garden Party January 14, 2017 – April 2, 2017 The theme for the gardens this season is Mary Poppins! It’s absolutely magical. Today is opening day, so be sure to check it out between now and April. 3. First Presbyterian Theatre presents: Heroes Thursday, January 12 through January 28 (weekends only), at 7:30 This will give you all the feels. It’s a funny, yet sad, show about soldiers who never quite recover from their experiences in war. You have plenty of opportunities to go see it, so don’t miss it! 4. The Trap Door January Showcase at The B Side Thursday, January 12 from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. True stories in front of a live audience. This showcase features stories from Mark Lahey, Christie Bowen, Joel Miller, Erica Anderson-Senter, Dan Kinnaley and Jennifer Watts. 5. Vegan/Vegetarian Brunch Weekend Yay! Vegan menu! They’re adding a veg menu to their existing menu, so for all you who can’t go without your meat – don’t fear! For those of us who are meat-free, we can grab a mimosa have some great brunch. 6. Winter Warmer Saturday, January 14 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. It’s the 4th Annual Winter Warmer! Tickets are limited, so be sure to get one before they sell out. 7. FW Bombshells Present Revolution: Real Live Girls! Saturday, January 14 from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. This show is all about celebrating the power of the female. They’ll be tearing down stereotypes and empowering women. In line with the message of the show, they’ll be holding a charity raffle for Charis House and a pad/tampon drive for the YWCA. 8. The Princess Party Tuesday, January 17 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Princess Party! Click on the event for more information about times, locations, cost, etc. 1. Dirt in Our Hands Opening Reception Thursday, July 14 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This exhibit sounds really cool. It “explores the spiritual connections between humans and the natural world.” 2. Your Life Matters Thursday, July 14 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Respect360 in collaboration with RemedyLive are hosting an empowerment session to bring awareness about Indiana’s epidemic of teen suicide attempts. This is an important thing to talk about, and if you have, work with, or care about any teenagers, be sure to attend this free event! 3. Nerdlesque: A Tribute to Cult Classics Friday, July 15 at 9 p.m. (21+ event)   From Grindhouse to Elvira, the Fort Wayne Bombshells pay tribute to favorite cult classic movies in this burlesque show. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. Make sure you get there early enough to grab a seat and a drink before the show! 4. Three Rivers Festival Time Varies Yep, it’s on here again. There’s still a TON to do this weekend, including the finale fireworks! 5. Ted’s Market Local Fest Friday, July 15 through Sunday, July 17 Celebrate all things local! Support your local vendors! 6. Daniel Tiger’s Reading Adventure Saturday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. We love Daniel Tiger at our house. He’ll be there Saturday! They’ll be reading Daniel Tiger books, and prizes, popcorn, and snow cones will be available for the kiddos! 7. Jazzworks Saturday, July 16, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Local jazz artists will be playing at the Botanical Conservatory prior to the fireworks on Saturday. Enjoy the music, the beautiful atmosphere, and a great view of the fireworks show! 8. Pedal for Pet Promises Saturday, July 16 at 7 p.m. There’s a fundraiser for the ASPCA this Saturday! Listen to some great music, enjoy some good drinks, and support a wonderful cause! 9. Pokemon GO Bar Crawl Saturday, July 16 at 2 p.m. C’mon. It had to happen! Creative Cocktails: Avenue Q Saturday, May 7 at 6:30 p.m.         Main Street Bistro and Avenue Q sounds like an amazing night! You’ll love the food and the show, guaranteed! Beer and BarreBQ Saturday, May 7 at 7 p.m.         Great beer, food, and dancing. This fundraiser will be like none you’ve been to before, a relaxed atmosphere benefiting a treasure in Fort Wayne! FW Bombshells Presents: Moulin Rouge Carnivale Saturday, May 7 at 9 p.m.         Picture this: Can-can girls, the strongwoman, a contortionist, a snake charmer, and a green fairy you can only see when you’ve had some absinthe (which will be available at the bar!).
