YLNI Farmers Market – Gnarly Beard Co

If you are looking to enter a beard competition, Bryan and Kate Conrad have you covered. With a rad assortment of beard oils, beard balms, gnarly beard sudz wash, hot oil beard treatments, shave oil, tattoo salve, and hand painted beard brushes, this team has helped gnarly beards be recognized nationally. This team is seeking to perfect the art of healthy grooming while redefining customer service and giving back. Gnarly Beard was born out of frustration with a product that they purchased online. Its subpar quality was not justified by its price tag. So, with a desire for something better and a military reimbursement check, Gnarly Beard Co was born. Bryan and Kate’s business is supported and inspired by each other (pause for the response to cuteness). They say that their greatest success is the community encouragement they received. This has allowed them to create more than just one line of their products and expand outside of the grooming realm. An important lesson propelling them forward is interacting with customers like they are family and friends. While it can become difficult to remember everyone’s names, preferences, and personal history, it makes all the difference. Many of these interactions are just small gestures. These small steps with customers lay important foundations in building the business and good customer relationships. When Bryan and Kate aren’t working on Gnarly Beard, they are indulging in their favorite hobby: parenting! Get down to the market and take care of your beard! Also, check out their website, and follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and...

YLNI Farmers Market: Beads of Hope

Every Saturday now through September, the YLNI Summer Farmers Market is open to the public on the corner of Wayne Street and Barr Street. The YLNI Farmer’s Market supports nearly 75 local farmers, producers, bakers and artists who offer fresh fruit, vegetables, meats, cheese, breads, jewelry, and much more. Throughout the summer, attendees enjoy free activities, such as yoga classes, cooking demonstrations, and musical entertainment, along with special events like Coffee with a Cop and Bottle and Bottega. In this series, we’ll be spotlighting local vendors. Today, we’re looking at Beads of Hope! Beads of Hope When it comes to accessories, I’m all about pieces that are a conversation starter. Eye-catching is the name of my game. With Beads of Hope, of the Hope House, you can find just that. Hope House was founded in 1981 – they’re no stranger to the Fort Wayne area. However, the one-of-a-kind jewelry from Beads of Hope makes for new conversations about their mission! What they sell: unique, handmade beaded jewelry Why their products are awesome: All of the products are designed and created by the women of Hope House, a non-profit organization that provides homeless, chemically dependent women “with opportunities to pursue recovery and self-sufficiency in a healthy, supportive living environment.” Women helping women is something I am completely on board with. The jewelry is unique too, so it will be noticed and serve as a great conversation starter! Editor’s Pick: You can purchase a set of your favorite style in an earring/bracelet or necklace/earring pairing. There are a multiple styles to choose from! Stop by the Beads of Hope booth at the YLNI Farmers Market tomorrow for your accessorizing and to support a great cause. The summer market is located in Downtown Fort Wayne on the corners of Wayne and Barr Streets, and open rain or shine from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm every Saturday now through September. Follow Beads of Hope on Facebook for the latest updates and appearances, and order jewelry online here. Photos / Beads of Hope...
