Happy Fourth! Looking for fun things to do in Fort Wayne? Look no further! LFW compiles a list of ongoings and events that we’re excited about every week! This is by no means an exhaustive list, and if you don’t quite see what you’re looking for, check out our events calendar. Click on the event for more information about times, locations, cost, etc. 1. TinCaps Thirsty Thursday Pub Run Thursday, June 30 Walk or run a 5k through downtown, ending at the Tincaps Stadium for Thirsty Thursday! (Or, if you can’t join the pub run, just go to the Tincaps game for Thirsty Thursday.) 2. Freedom on Main: An All American Celebration Thursday, June 30 from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Freedom-inspired fun! There will be face painting, activities, and a performance by Heartland Sings (also Joseph Decuis barbecue … yum!). 3. HAIR In Concert Friday, July 1 at 8 p.m. It’s a free performance of numbers from the upcoming production of “Hair,” you don’t want to miss it! 4. Leo-Cedarville Freedom Festival Saturday, July 2 at 7 p.m. Food, activities, music from Mason-Dixon Line, and fireworks! 5. Broadway Street Stroll Sunday, July 3 at 1 p.m. Broadway is the place to be! The street stroll will showcase art, shops, venues, and eats that have made a home on Broadway. 6. Fort Wayne Philharmonic: Patriotic Pops Sunday, July 3 at 8:30 p.m. The Phil is holding their annual “Patriotic Pops” on Parkview Field this Sunday. Stop by for some great music and fireworks! 7. 4 on the 4th Monday, July 4 at 8 a.m. Before you spend the rest of your day  cooking out and snacking during fireworks, start out with a run! 8. Fourth of July Fireworks Monday, July 4 at 10 p.m. The fireworks are downtown again this year! There’s a Tincaps game with a great view of the fireworks after, or you can head downtown and find a spot to watch the show! 9. YLNI Living Fort Wayne Concert Series Wednesday, July 6 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Our free concert series is happening again this coming Wednesday! Brew? Music? Bring the family and have some pig-out fun this weekend! 3. Creative Cocktails: Hobnobben Film Festival Friday June 17 at 5 pm         Meet up at Main Street Bistro before the Hobnobben Block Party and free outdoor screening of ‘Dazed and Confused.’ 4. 07 Summerfest Friday June 17, 6 pm-9 pm             It’s a great time with art, food, wonderful people, and a night of fundraising for the ’07. 5. Sweetwater GearFest Friday June 17 and Saturday June 18         The largest music gear trade show that is open to the general public in the U.S. and it’s in Fort Wayne, music lovers, don’t miss this! 6. SCAN Duck Race Saturday June 18 at 7 pm         Plenty of family fun, and the fantastic duck race all benefitting a wonderful organization in our community! SCAN does really important things, support them, learn what they do, and have a great time! 7. CityExchange Father’s Day Sale Saturday June 18, 11 am-6 pm               Have you purchased your Father’s Day gift yet? Confession: I have not. I’ll be there Saturday … sometimes procrastinating is the way to go! 8. Northern Indiana Pet Expo Saturday June 18 and Sunday June 19, 11 am-4 pm         Pets, pets, pets! I love this expo every year. Check out the local organizations doing great things for our beloved pets, meet some puppies, watch a few presentations, and have a good time! 9. Fort4Fitness Kids Marathon Kickoff Monday June 20, 3 pm-7 pm           There will be fun activities for the family! Click on the event for more information about times, locations, cost, etc. 1. MKM Thursday, June 9 from 4 pm to 7 pm           Enjoy food from Affine and check out some great art while exploring MKM’s Boundaries exhibit. “Boundaries: Exploring Meaningful Thresholds — to see how our creative process is exploring the relationship between place and perception.” 2. Cupcakes and Cocktails for a Cause Thursday, June 9 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm           Cupcakes and signature cocktails provided by CS3 and live jazz music by the Phil Schurger Trio. The event benefits FWCS Study Connection, an after-school tutoring program serving children in need. 3. Distillery Experience Tour Friday, June 10 from 6 pm to 9 pm           Tour the distillery! Tours will run in 15 minute intervals from 6:00pm to 7:00pm with a cash bar in the outdoor pavilion. Get some food from the food trucks and have a great time! 4. Art & Soul Friday, June 10 from 8 pm to 12 pm                 This Art & Soul benefits the Voices of Unity USA Choir Olympic Team‘s 2016 European Tour, “Journey to The Vatican.” There will be live painting and pieces for sale, and appetizers from Club Soda! 5. Arena Dinner Theatre: South Pacific Friday and Saturday, June 10 and 11 at 6:15 pm             This is a great musical. Email us at info@livingfortwayne.com   1. Second Chances Art Exhibit and Auction Fri, March 11, 6pm – 9pm         Community artists were paired with Blue Jacket graduates to create artwork to tell the graduates’ stories of triumph. Some pieces of art will be auctioned off, and proceeds of the benefit go to Blue Jacket. There will be a cash bar and lots of fun! 2. Karaoke Classics Live Fri, March 11 at 7 p         It’s karaoke night for Heartland Sings! From Britney to Journey, the Heartland Vocal Artists channel your favorite artists by performing their hit singles accompanied by the instrumental combo. Audience members are encouraged to sing along, and a free drink is included in the ticket price. Good food, good eats, good music, fun songs — perfect night! 3. Creative Cocktails Saturday, March 12 at 5:30 p         This month’s Creative Cocktails event is at Club Soda. Meet some friends, and have a drink and a great time before the Axis Dance Performance! 4. AXIS Dance Performance Saturday, March 12 at 8 p         World-Famous, AXIS Dance troupe is performing at the Arts United Center! After the performance, there will be an audience Q&A. Don’t miss this great event!     5. St. Catty’s Day at Black Pine Saturday, March 12 at 1 p             Black Pine is open for a St. Patrick’s Day Celebration! Dress in green, grab the kids, and enjoy bottomless hot chocolate and beautiful animals! 6. Get Green Saturday, March 12 all day         Family fun all day long! There’s a 5k, the firefighters are turning the river green, and there are tons of other activities for all ages (Lucky Charms eating contest, anyone?). Are you ready to Weather the Fort?

Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 20! Weather the Fort is coming to Downtown Fort Wayne at Freimann Square for a full day of fun. Created as a way to enjoy the winter time when most of us are experiencing a bit of cabin fever, this should be a fun time for all. This event is being catered to ages 21 and over. There will be local bands, live paintings, live ice sculpture carvings, dance performances, coffee tasting, S’mores stations, beer tent and much more! Performing acts confirmed include Pyroscope Entertainment, Soul 35, The Snarks and Secret Mezzanine. Fresh, homemade dishes will be provided by neighbors from the Old Journal Gazette building at WOW Factor (a division of Waiter on the Way). We will keep you updated as more information is received.
