Getting into the St. Patrick’s Day Spirit

Saturday, March 17 is St. Patrick’s Day and we are hoping to bring a little luck o’ the Irish to you when it comes to finding somewhere to celebrate. While the rivers run green and the Irish pubs are full, many of local establishments are serving up some great deals, festive treats, and awesome entertainment to keep you in good spirits. Three Rivers Distilling Company St. Patty’s Day at the Distillery March 17, 12pm-11pm What to expect: Drinks $5 – Emerald Isle: Summit City Gin and crème de menthe $7 – Pot of Gold: Harvester Vodka with a touch of elderflower, splash of ginger beer $6 – Irish Eyes: 122 Unaged Corn Whiskey, crème de menthe, and heavy cream $6 – Irish Lady: melon infused Harvester Vodka with OJ and sparkling grape juice on draft $7 – Sparkling Shamrock: Cucumber and pear infused Harvester Vodka, touch of elderflower, lemon juice and simple syrup served on draft Food Corn beef and cabbage Shepherd’s pie Irish stew All of their other amazing food options. The tasting starts at 8 am with a free Irish whiskey sampling and lots of giveaways! The live music starts at 1 pm with Blake Blurry until 5 pm then again with Dan Smyth starting at 10 pm!! What to expect: HT2 will be serving a special drink called Magic Milks. This drink is a Lucky Charm Marshmallow infused vodka with almond milk Hamilton Public House March 17, 8pm to 11pm Hamilton Public House is hosting the Summit City Saints among other wonderful things tonight to celebrate that little Irishman in us all. St. Patrick’s Day in the Fort

Since St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Monday this year, this gives more opportunities throughout the weekend to celebrate a time where everyone can be a little Irish. On Saturday, March 15, the Fort Wayne Professional Firefighters are hosting the 12th Annual Get Green Festival along the Wells Street Corridor.  The event begins in the morning with the start of the Strongman Competition and the 5-Kilt Run/Walk at 9 and 9:30, respectively. Throughout the day, food will be provided by the Big Eyed Fish and beer by Mad Anthony Brewing. The river will be “greened” at 11 a.m. with an eco-friendly dye sprayed from fire hoses from the Wells St. pedestrian bridge. During the day, the tent is open to all ages with various activities open to all ages, as well…even the Lucky Charms Eating Contest.  For the younger ones, the Kids’ Fun Zone is open all day with a moonwalk and other inflatable games. For a full schedule, check out the fest website at fortwaynegetgreen.com   Some other places around the area are throwing their own kinds of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations: Deer Park (1530 Leesburg Rd, Fort Wayne, 46808) – There will be festivities throughout the weekend at Deer Park starting on Friday the 14th with a Green Keg Tap starting at 5:30 p.m. Throughout the weekend there is a Trivia Contest and Live Music (Friday Night), and Irish Toasts, Poker Club and more live music (Saturday). On Sunday’s “Family Day” the pub opens at 11 a.m. for brunch, St. Pet-Trick, Jig Dancing and more throughout the day. On March 17, the pub is open at 9 a.m. for doughnuts  with special events starting at 4 p.m. with a Keg Toss. The Brass Rail (1121 Broadway, Fort Wayne 46802) – The final show at the bar before St. Patrick’s Day is on March 16 at 9 p.m. featuring Continental and Rick Barton of the Dropkick Murphy’s. There will be a $5 cover. Flanagan’s (6525 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, 46804) – On St. Patrick’s Day, the bar opens early (10:30 a.m.) for standing room only. An outdoor heated tent is set up with a live DJ and dancing. The bar will feature corned beef and cabbage, Irish stew and live bagpipe performances. J.K. O’Donnell’s (121 W. Wayne St, Fort Wayne, 46802) – There will be an all-ages party then from 4 p.m. until 11 p.m. The Fireman’s Brigade Bagpipers will kick things off at 4 p.m. There is a $5 admission fee after 5 p.m. which gets you a complimentary drink in the tent.  Live music starts at 5, as well, with music from Joyce Fry & Greg Clark, Goldmine...
