Artlink’s Gallery Crawl: Jason Swisher and Daniel Dienelt

On Thursday, April 14th, Artlink is hosting its very first Pop-Up Gallery Crawl from 6 to 9 pm, where participants have the opportunity to take a walking art tour through downtown Fort Wayne. At each stop along the way, there will be music, food, and original artwork available for purchase from a diverse range of artists. The third location on the tour takes places at 125 West Main Street at the old National Cigar Place beside Coney Island. It is one of the many vacant lots on the tour that can be purchased. Music at this stop will be showcase the musical stylings of The Fierce Invalids. And while guests can snack on hors d’oeuvres by another local restaurant, they will also have the opportunity to browse the collaborative photographs of Jason Swisher and Daniel Dienelt.     Both Jason Swisher and Daniel Dienelt will be showcasing photography, particularly a collaboration of large format engineering prints. When describing the pieces that participants will see during the Gallery Crawl, Jason Swisher says that they are documentary and observant of everyday life, but are direct in their portrayal. For Daniel Dienelt, his goal is to create photographs that are contemporary to the world we live in. He wants to make photography that is atmospherical, often manipulating his pictures to achieve this sense.   Jason Swisher is currently a commercial artist for Swish Design, LLC and his dream to become an artist started at a very young age. “My grandfather was a commercial artist in Fort Wayne,” Swisher tells, “and I was constantly surrounded by creativity and exploration. I’d say I got started once he put me at a drafting table with paper and pencils. Then a camera when I started high school.”     To Jason Swisher, now is the best time to be an artist in the Fort Wayne community. “Fort Wayne’s art scene has blossomed significantly over the past 10-15 years, with a thriving arts culture and groups of people trying to make things happen, pushing hard for better visual aesthetics within our city.”     To see more of Jason Swisher’s work, visit his website or check out his Instagram.     Like Jason Swisher, Daniel Dienelt was also introduced to art at a very young age, turning to art as an outlet early in his life. It was a way for him to communicate with the world without having to use words.     In Fort Wayne, Daniel Dienelt explains that the art scene is not only benefitting local artists, but the community as a whole. “We have many talented creatives making beautiful works that are incredibly affordable compared to large explosive art communities.”...
