Looking for fun things to do in Fort Wayne? Look no further! LFW compiles a list of ongoings and events that we’re excited about every week! This is by no means an exhaustive list, and if you don’t quite see what you’re looking for, check out our events calendar. Click on the event for more information about times, locations, cost, etc. 1. YLNI Hot Spot Thursday, July 21 at 5:30 Make some friends at Pedal City! 2. Let’s Comedy! Presents: Follow Friday 5: Meltdown in Downtown July 22 at 8 p.m. A night of fun with a variety of funny folks! 3. Java Mama Open House Saturday, July 23 at 11 a.m. Do crafts, have fun with legos, and get the kiddo’s face painted! There will be live acoustic music featuring Jen Fisher, Pop n Fresh, Plumdingo and Sarah Brown. And it’s all free! I love Java Mama, come check out this wonderful place! 4. Pokemon GO! Neighborhood Tours Saturday, July 23 at 4 p.m. Tour all the PokeStops in the area and learn some neat tips and tricks for this game that’s taking the world by storm. 5. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Saturday, July 23 through August 7, times vary This will be an amazing show! Don’t miss it! 6. Fort Wayne Pride July 22 and 23, Time varies There will be a variety of activities throughout the weekend, including the Pride March! 7. K105 Countryfest Saturday, July 23 at 1 p.m. Lee Brice, Jon Pardi, Clare Dunn, Drew Baldridge, LANco and Jordan Rager, should be a fun time! 8. Sweets So Geek Free Outdoor Movie: Labyrinth Saturday, July 23 at 8 p.m. Also a David Bowie appreciation night (that’s reason enough to go, right there). Vietnummy will be there and the charity for the evening is SCAN. Don’t miss it! 9. 98.9 The Bear’s Birthday Bash Sunday, July 24 at 3:30 p.m. Featuring Shinedown, Halestorm, Red Sun Rising and Devour the Day. 10. Allen County Fair July 26-31, times vary It’s fair time! Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! Our calendar is full of fantastic events taking place around our city, so be sure to check it out for a more exhaustive list. In the meantime, here’s a quick peek at some of the things we are looking forward to this weekend! Email us at info@livingfortwayne.com   1. Next Women of Country Tour Thursday, March 17 at 6 pm         Sponsored by K105, Jennifer Nettles will be at the Embassy, and she’s bringing some wonderful, talented ladies with her. It should be a great show, and yes, I know it’s country, but we do live in Indiana. Drive your truck downtown and check it out! 2. Gala Gone Wild Saturday, March 19 at 7 pm             Not your typical gala. This should be so fun! There will be pop-up entertainment, dueling pianos, and fun performances. Snack on some hors d’oeuvres and enjoy the cash bar while you watch the out-of-the-box entertainment. 3. “La Fille Mal Gardee“ March 18 & 19 at 7:30 pm March 18 & 19 at 2:30 pm               Fort Wayne Ballet’s latest show. It’s about a young girl, her mother’s ideas of who she should love, and her finding her one true love. I’m excited about it, I heard it’s great! 4. Grassroots Baby Grand Opening                 ATTENTION moms. There’s a natural parenting store in Fort Wayne. Did you know that? It was running out of Java Mama, but now it has its own storefront! Support these local shop owners who want what’s best for our babies and check out their grand opening! 5. Impractical Jokers Saturday, March 19 at 7 pm and 10 pm               “Where’s Larry?” Tour is at the Embassy. We love the show, we should love the live performance. 6. WIT Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm Friday late performance at 10 pm                 I heard this show was amazing from several different people. They said they laughed, they cried, they had all the feels. It’s closing weekend, so I put it at the top of my to-do list! 7. Women Make Movies Sunday, March 20 at 4pm and 8 pm     In celebration of Women’s History Month the IPFW Women’s Studies Program sponsors a showing of films created by women. LFW Parenting: Tots in the Fort

Toddlers and a Midwest winter: some winter days, the thought of spending onemoresecond at home with my two [adorable, hilarious, but work-intensive] toddlers makes me want to climb the walls. And then, simultaneously, the very idea of wrestling them into winter coats is enough to discourage all nonessential travel. Everyday winter outings with my toddlers have to pass a “worth the coat” test, which, for me, requires the destination to meet most of the following criteria: Indoors; cheap/ low-investment (there’s a chance we’ll stay for three hours or just fifteen minutes); safe, but physically exhausting; not especially crowded; and tolerant of chaos. If you’re looking for toddler-friendly winter activities, here’s a few stops that appear “worth the coat.” YMCA The YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne boasts impressive amenities for families, from fitness facilities and group fitness classes for adults, to toddler-friendly classes and a great child watch program. Parents can get a break (and a workout) while kids play at child watch, participate in free swim or free play, or let the kids participate in programming specifically designed for toddlers. Check out www.fwymca.org for facilities, class schedules, and activities. Jefferson Pointe play area Offers a great, free place for toddlers and small children to run, climb, and let off steam. Kids and their supervising parent must wear socks. Bring a picnic (and hand sanitizer). Java Mama Fort Wayne Java Mama offers free or low-cost playtime for the kids, quality food and coffee, and a tribe of other parents who have also been awake since 5 a.m. Open Play is free from 1-4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and all day on Saturdays, with the purchase of a drink. There’s also a calendar of toddler-friendly classes, available for a fee. Allen County Public Library Most local branches of the ACPL include a weekday morning story time for babies and toddlers, with some including crafts or songs. More than Gymnastics Offers open gym for children under 5 on the first and third Fridays of every month, from noon-1:30 p.m., for $5 per child. Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Offers programming for toddlers starting at 18 months. There’s a Jack and the Neverland Pirate-themed event with pirate games, craft, and a treat on February 26 from 9-9:45 a.m.  for $17. Register here Artlink Contemporary Gallery Offers Early Art Exploration on February 20, 2016 (and later dates in the Spring) from 10-11:30 a.m,, which provides art projects for children ages 2-5. All of the creativity with no clean up duty! Cost is $10 for Artlink Members, $15 for the general public, with an additional fee of $5 for same-family siblings. Tickets available...

This is closing weekend, don’t miss your chance to see it! 2. APQ at Club Soda Friday, Feb. 5 at 9p I’m thinking after I see Ruby Bridges Friday night, I’ll hit Club Soda for some wonderful martinis and an awesome show. 3. Cocktails and Sweet Deals Saturday, Feb. 6 at 11a – 8p Shop a variety of sweetheart inspired gifts, including framed vintage valentines, handmade felt flower bouquets, and one of a kind vintage jewelry. Celebrate Foreveresta’s grand opening and learn about how they and their partners are changing the world. Red Dress Dash Saturday, Feb. 6, at 1:30pm – 3:30pm Get ready to throw on your favorite (or not so favorite) red dress over your winter clothing and DASH with us through the streets of downtown Fort Wayne to support women’s heart health! I probably won’t be dashing (not a runner) but I’ll definitely walk for the cause! Roller Derby Saturday, Feb. 6 at 3:30 Hey! The Roller Derby is back in Fort Wayne! Should be a super fun, off-beat date night (if that’s your thing). Valentine’s Special: 2 tickets for $20. YLNI Masquerade Ball Saturday, Feb. 6 at 8p Optional black tie, super fun. The theme is “Night at the Opera” and this YLNI celebration of the past year of regional partnership is something you don’t want to miss! Social Media Workshop Sunday, Feb. 7 at 1p – 3p Wunderkammer Board Member Bridget O’Reilly will host an introductory Social Media Workshop primarily covering highly visual social media platforms like Instagram — learn how to make your pics ON POINT.
