Opal and Ruby Gift Emporium Puts the Surprise Back Into Gift Giving

Fort Wayne has a new gem and this one shines for not only you, but your loved ones as well.  Opal and Ruby Gift Emporium, located in The Shoppes of Illinois Road, beams with personality and fun.  That’s probably because they have two ladies behind the scenes that do the same. Kristin and Kelli Packnett.  If their names sound familiar to you, they should.  Their father, Mike Packnett, is the CEO at Parkview Health and now the proud owner of Opal and Ruby.  “Technically, my dad, Mike Packnett, is the principal owner with me. But he is simply the investor, and I manage and operate the store. I am the Managing Partner. The store is really a family affair with my mom being very involved, and my sister (Kelli) working with me,” Kristin explains.   The Packnetts are undoubtedly a busy family.  I asked Kristin how Opal and Ruby came to be. “My parents moved from Oklahoma City to Fort Wayne over 8 years ago. My sister, Kelli Packnett, and I made the move to Fort Wayne in September of 2012. We really enjoy Fort Wayne, but miss the shopping experiences we were accustomed to living in Oklahoma City. Since I had always dreamed of owning a gift store, and there was a need and an opportunity here in Fort Wayne to do so, the dream became a reality! Opal & Ruby’s namesake is a salute to my birthstone (October – Opal) and my sister Kelli’s birthstone (July – Ruby).”  Step into Opal and Ruby and it’s likely you’ll find it hard to leave.  Their shelves are filled with trinkets ranging from home decor and outdoor accessories to jewelry and purses.  A gift from Opal and Ruby is sure to spark a smile and a “Where did you get this?!?!” response from anyone who receives it. “We strive to be Fort Wayne’s destination for innovative and clever gifts. Our goal is to be a store that meets the needs of every customer that walks through the doors. We will do our absolute best to be the finger on the pulse of creative and considerate gift options. If we get really good at it, we would love to expand the brand to additional locations! Here’s hoping!” Kristin says. “We want everyone to feel welcome at Opal & Ruby Gift Emporium. We are dedicated to helping customers find the perfect gift. Assisting in the gift buying process is our business! Shopping for gifts should be a fun experience!”  Opal and Ruby continues to create buzz as the new gift store in our city, but Kristin and Kelli continue to be active in our...
