Happy first day of Summer! With Summer being here, festival season is now in full swing. Summer in Fort Wayne is the best time of year to visit these festivals and get your fill of food and fun! After a successful couple weeks with Germanfest and Ribfest, here are some other festivals to look forward to this season! Greekfest Come enjoy a large selection of Greek food, dancing, and other fun activities. If there is one thing that Greekfest does best is provide excellent hospitality. Come for the food, stay because you won’t be able to move after your meal. Opa! When: Thursday, June 23 to Sunday, June 26, 2016 Where: Headwaters Park Cost: Thursday-Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and all day Sunday is FREE, Thursday-Saturday 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. is $4. Attendees over 65 can get in for $3 and under 16 are admitted FREE.   Riverpalooza 2016   Home to the Dragon Boat Races! This festival will include boat rides, entertainment, and other activities to enjoy right before you hit Buskerfest! When: Saturday, June 25, 2016 Time: 8 a.m. Where: Headwaters Park West Cost: FREE   Buskerfest Enjoy a large selection of musicians, fire dancers, stilt walkers, and so much more! When: Saturday, June 25, 2016 Time: 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Where: Corner of Calhoun St. and Wayne St. Cost: FREE   Three Rivers Festival Everyone’s favorite festival is back for their 48th year! Big rides, live performances, arts and crafts, and, not to mention, Junk Food Alley! Don’t forget Fort Wayne’s biggest parade on Saturday, July 16th! When: Friday, July 8 to Saturday, July 16, 2016 Where: Headwaters Park Cost: FREE Fort Wayne Pride This year’s Pride will include a beer tent, talent from local performers, multiple vendors, KidSpace, and so much more. This is your opportunity to celebrate with over 15,000 LGBT and allies! DEV will also be highlighting the main stage on that Friday. Don’t forget the Pride March on Saturday, July 23rd at 11:15 a.m.! Summer has finally hit the Fort, which means it’s perfect outside for a run! That being said, Living Fort Wayne has assembled a list of runs and walks for this Summer season! What’s also perfect is how many runs and walks we have in Fort Wayne to participate in. Don’t miss out on these opportunities to not only better yourself, but help our community raise money for organizations. Frontier Run’n Fun 5k When: Saturday, June 18th Where: 8001 West Jefferson Blvd. Fort Wayne, IN 46804 Time: 7 pm Cost: $35 A run hosted by Frontier and managed by Fort Wayne Running Company, this event promises a good time running through Southwest Fort Wayne trails. Shirts will be handed out and an after party will be thrown with refreshments and live music. There will also be a 10k course for those who dare to do such a thing.   RibFest 5k & Walk When: Saturday, June 18th Where: Headwaters Park Time: 8 am Cost: $20 until June 14th, $25 until June 17th Ribs and running? Sign me up! All participants will receive not only one but TWO FREE passes to this year’s RibFest, a free t-shirt, and other swag to take home after the race. All proceeds will go to the North Side High School Athletics!   Quakers Riverway 5k When: Saturday, June 18th Where: Johnny Appleseed Park Time: 6:30 pm Cost: $20 until June 17th, $25 day of race Race for a cause! Awards and prizes will be handed out following the race. There’s even a FREE kids run at 7:30 pm! Also, Weigand Construction will be hosting their 28th Annual Duck Race to benefit SCAN following the run. Not to mention a legendary after party with kids activities and fireworks. All proceeds will go towards SCAN and their mission to educate others on how to Stop Child Abuse and Neglect.   Fox Island Sprint Triathlon When: Sunday, June 19th Where: Fox Island County Park Time: 7 am Cost: $50 for USAT members and $65 for non-USAT members This is not for the faint of heart, folks. Triathlon includes a 500m swim, 20k bike, and 5k run with other options for duathlon and aquabike courses.
