Shindigz National Soccer Festival

Another great event is coming back to Fort Wayne this summer, The ShindigZ National Soccer Festival. The festival takes place twice a year, once in the spring and once in the summer. It will be held at the historic Fort Wayne Sport Club located on Ardmore Ave. Running from August 21 through 23rd, the Festival will host high school and college soccer games ranging from local teams to Division 1 all-stars. It is recognized nationally as the premier collegiate soccer event. According to Shindigz, the mission of the National Soccer Festival is: “To provide periodic amateur athletic competitive programs and cultural events that recognize and celebrate the history and traditions in the sport of soccer as well as other charitable educational and athletic purposes which encourage exercise and physical activity through the sport of soccer, especially amongst youth, so as to promote healthy lifestyles and help combat childhood obesity.” Timothy Spralding, a long time volunteer for the festival has this to say, “The festival has been very successful since its inception, and we’ve broken attendance records each of the last three years.  The level of competition is as high as you can get.  In our spring event we hosted Notre Dame and Indiana – the last two national champion teams.  IU is coming to the summer festival, as well as top ten ranked Washington and Michigan State, (those two actually play each other in Thursday’s game, it’s quietly the game of the tournament) and other top teams like Ohio State, Marquette, Xavier, and Fort Wayne’s own IPFW.  We’ll also have women’s college games as well as a high school boys and a high school girls tournament. Lastly, we have four teams from the Chicago Fire and Indiana Fire academies.  These games are always fun because the kids that play for the academies are steeped in the professionalism and style of play required from their parent clubs, and it definitely shows!”  “The festival is generally a little slow on Thursday, picking up steam to what is generally a jam packed Saturday for the IU finale.  The energy is great, it’s family friendly with a midway that has games and Sumo Soccer, but there’s a robust beer tent for the older crowd,” Spralding adds.   You can find more info, the full schedule of events, and more here!  And, they are always in need of more volunteers, go to this link to help out. Good luck to all teams next weekend! The following information is the latest press release on the festival: SNSF 15th Year 2014...

Make Life More Fun: Think Local, Think Shindigz When Planning Your Next Party

Shindigz has been making waves in the party industry since 1999 as an online retailer, but their roots date back to 1926, in South Whitley, when they started as Stumps Party. Shindigz owner, Shep Moyle, and Social Media Coordinator, Kristen Baumert, give us an overview of the small, family-owned-business gone number-one-place for party supplies online, which continues to operate right in our own backyard. The History Once Stumps Party realized that they had become a leader in prom supplies, selling to over 70 percent of the nation’s high schools, the owners realized that they had gained the footing and support to branch out into the consumer party space. “We knew that we could bring our unique blend of personalization and unique party items, combined with great value, to a much larger market,” says Moyle. “Wendy [Moyle’s wife] came up with the name Shindigz, in an ideation session. We knew it was a winner from the start.” The Growth It was with a “relentless focus on [the] customer” that Shindigz grew from a small family business into one of the United States’ largest dealers in party supplies. “We believe in delighting our customers and bringing a smile to their face when they open a box from Shindigz. We create unique and interesting products that make life more fun. We offer the world’s largest selection of personalized party supplies and we support it all with world class technology and operations.” And that’s certainly something to smile – or rather, party – about! A Personal Touch Adding a name or photo to just about any party piece ensures that your celebration will be memorable in a totally unparalleled way. “A name or picture can be added, in most cases, to standees, tableware, banners, party favors, and so much more,” Baumert shares. “The look on your child’s face when they see their own picture and name on their birthday party supplies is priceless. We create these moments that will last you a lifetime.” Overwhelmed by the incredible variety offered on the website and not sure where to start? Fear not! Shindigz provides plenty of themed party ideas on their website in addition to instructional how-to videos on their YouTube channel. Hometown Loyalty What further sets Shindigz apart from other party suppliers is the fact that, even though they’ve gone ‘viral’ and ship party necessities to customers across the nation, they keep it local by remaining a huge advocate of supporting our communities right here in Northeast Indiana and investing in their people. “Over the past forty years of ownership by the Moyle family, Shindigz has been very active in the area. This ranges...
