Hobnobben Film Festival – Volunteers Needed!

Hobnobben Film Festival, Ft. Wayne’s first multi-day, multi-venue film festival, being held June 16th-June 19th, 2016 needs your expertise and commitment to community. We hope to make this inaugural event one of the best to ever happen in Ft. Wayne. Cinema Center is very excited to present this event, but we are even more thrilled at the prospect of joining forces and sharing our mission with so many area volunteers. We need help choosing films, organizing volunteers, bringing filmmakers to the city, utilize existing networks for sponsorship and partnership opportunities, and most of all, assistance with the budget. Lead volunteer positions are: Programming Lead It is the films that are going to bring people to the festival, and we want to make sure we have the best films showing at Hobnobben. The Programming Lead would work with Programming Volunteers and Programming Interns by evaluating film submissions, and make recommendations to the Festival Director for inclusion in Hobnobben. A love for movies goes without saying, but the right person will also be able to be critical and fair, while also taking into account audience tastes. Hospitality Lead We hope Hobnobben brings a lot of people to Ft. Wayne who have never been here before, and those people will continue to keep coming back. The Hospitality Lead will not rest until every deal is exhausted from local hotels, restaurants, bars, and vendors. The Hospitality Lead also has the important job of overseeing VIPs and making sure their experience in Ft. Wayne is the absolute best it can possibly be. This position would be great for anyone who has a passion for going above and beyond in the realm of customer service. Special Events Lead Hobnobben will be something that is so much bigger than films in a theater. There will be plenty of parties, some open to the public, while others are only available to VIPs and high-level sponsors. After long days doing question and answer sessions and watching a lot of movies, filmmakers will want to unwind and let loose, and it is the Special Events Lead who will make sure this happens every night of the festival. Budget Coordinator This is for someone that does not get lost in the numbers, can give guidance on monies available to the festival, and report statements, invoices, and any revenue earned to Cinema Center’s board treasurer. This position will hold a lot of responsibility, as the Hobnobben Film Festival Committee will be looking to this qualified individual for advice and council regarding anything money-related. We’d love someone with experience in banking, accounting, or bookkeeping to fill this role, especially if the qualified...

Galloping Gobbler

Hey Fort Wayne! Are you in town tomorrow for Thanksgiving and looking for something fun and active to do? If so, then the Galloping Gobbler 4-mile race is for you! I’ve done this race for the past 4 years and it’s a lot of fun to run or walk as a family. It’s something I look forward to on Thanksgiving because personally I love running outside, no matter how cold it is, but it gives me an excuse to enjoy Thanksgiving later without feeling as guilty. Plus who doesn’t love the idea of burning calories before eating Thanksgiving dinner later? Runners can expect live music, a turkey costume mascot, a real live turkey, and most importantly to have a great time! Veep Races is the company who organizes not only this event, but several other races in the Fort Wayne area throughout the year. The race director is Mitch Harper. The Galloping Gobbler starts at the University of Saint Francis Hutzell Athletic Center and winds through  Lindenwood Cemetery before finishing back at the campus. In the fall, the cemetery has pretty scenery and runners can expect several big hills along the course which adds a bit of a challenge! Thanksgiving Day Start Time: 8:30 am Race Day Packet Pick up: 7:10 am Pre Race Packet Pick up and Registration: Wednesday November 25th from 5:45 pm to 7:45 pm at the Hutzell Athletic Center at University of Saint Francis 4 mile course map: To learn more: http://www.veepraces.com/?races=galloping-gobbler Be sure to check out Veep Race’s next 4 mile race: The Gingerbread Pursuit on Saturday December 12th in downtown Fort Wayne! I hope to see you guys out tomorrow and want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! Kelsey...

Hobnobben Film Festival

The Hobnobben Film Festival, a multi-day, multi-verse event, will be the first of its kind in Fort Wayne. We have never had a film festival before and I had the chance to interview Jonah Crismore, executive director of Cinema Center, about the Hobnobben festivities. In celebration of Cinema Center’s 40th anniversary, Jonah hopes that this festival will highlight major talent in our city and inspire others to make and submit future films. For filmmakers on the fence about submitting a film to Hobnobben, Jonah says just “do it”. There are many categories ranging from social justice documentaries to low-budget zombie films. Jonah states that he would like to see this festival be a platform for a filmmaker’s career to begin. Cinema Center, in partnership with Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne and the University of Saint Francis, will be screening short and feature length films shot by Fort Wayne locals. The venues for this festival include Cinema Center, Arts United Center, Arts United Parkview Physicians Group, ArtsLab Theater, and the University of Saint Francis Performing Arts Center. It will take place from June 16 to June 19, 2016. In addition to featuring local filmmaker’s work, there will also be panel discussions, meet and greet opportunities, and Q+A sessions. He hopes to help educate the audience over the process of filmmaking and make them active and aware film viewer. Hobnobben Film Festival is looking for volunteers to help make this festival a success! Email volunteer@hobnobben.org to fill out an application. Don’t miss Northeast Indiana’s first BIG film...
