Three Rivers Running Company and Vera Bradley Foundation to Host First Annual Pink Ribbon Run

The following information was provided by Three Rivers Running Company: Three Rivers Running Company will collaborate with the Vera Bradley Foundation to host a special event on May 10, 2014 to raise funds for breast cancer research. Three Rivers Running Company is Northeast Indiana’s original locally owned running specialty shop. “We’re delighted to partner with Three Rivers Running Company to raise funds for breast cancer research and help turn Fort Wayne Pink,” says Catherine Hill, executive director of the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer. “Our family of committed partners is growing and we love their help in spreading the word about the important work of the Vera Bradley Foundation.” Three Rivers Running Company has also hosted such events as the Hare & Hounds cross-country race and the Veterans’ Marathon in Columbia City. The store also partners with many local organizations such as Fort 4 Fitness and Fort Wayne’s Smallest Winner. The inaugural “Pink Ribbon Run” will be held on Lutheran Hospital’s Southwest campus and will feature a 4-mile run as well as a 2-mile walk. The Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer recently completed its 2013 fiscal year, raising $2.7 million. The Foundation’s main benefactor is Vera Bradley, Inc., which contributes approximately $1 million each year to the cause. Additional support comes from several sources including events and individual donations. Vera Bradley’s co-founders began raising funds for a cure after the loss of a dear friend to the disease in 1993. Since its inception, the Foundation has contributed $20 million to the research being conducted at the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. This team is world-renowned for its collaborative approach to research– leading national clinical trials and hosting the world’s only healthy breast tissue bank. This unique resource offers researchers an invaluable tool in unlocking the mysteries of the disease. In addition, IU Cancer Center has been recognized by the American Society of Clinical Oncologists and the National Cancer Institute for groundbreaking discoveries. To learn more about the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer visit: http://www.verabradley.org. Vera Bradley’s breast cancer awareness colors produce impressive sales and generate part of this revenue, but another significant portion is the donors like Three Rivers Running Company and those who support their events. You can register for the Pink Ribbon Run or donate to the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer...
