How to Celebrate National Wine Day

Merlot? Wine not. We all know that Memorial Day weekend is around the corner, but did you know that Friday, May 25th is National Wine day? What better way to kick off the start of the summer season than with a full glass of wine? Well, I have a few ideas to help you celebrate this delightful occasion right here in northeast Indiana. Dine Downtown at Wine Down

You have probably heard about the recent opening of Wine Down Tastings and Tapas earlier this year in The Harrison. I had the chance to preview the space when it opened and I have heard friends of all ages tell me about their experiences in the last month or two. What I really wanted to find out more about was their unique tapas and food options. Fort Wayne has a wide range of unique cuisine, and I am always looking for something new. Wine Down scored big not only in the taste department but also with their presentation. Our server was well-versed in the unique wine selections and even gave us a walk through on how to fill our glasses from their one of a kind wine machines. This followed with a full review of their menu and all kinds of recommendations that we all kept in mind as we ordered. We ordered the Old World Board filled with unique meat, cheeses, and nuts, followed it with the BBQ Bison Meatballs, and then enjoyed the Crabmeat Stuffed Deviled Eggs. The great thing about Wine Down is that they are serving quality over quantity. It causes you to slow down and savor each bite and leave a little room for all of the wine tastings. When you combine this with their unique private seating areas, it made for the perfect night downtown. If you haven’t had the chance to enjoy this new space yet, bring a friend and stop by. You will be surprised with just how much space they have, including their back patio that overlooks the TinCaps at Parkview Field. As of now, the hours for the kitchen are from 4 p.m. – 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 4 p.m. – 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Make your reservation at 260-755-1019 and enjoy all that Wine Down has to...
